Record-Breaking Export Performance in 2025

The year 2025 proved to be historic for Maruti Suzuki India Limited, as it recorded its highest-ever annual export volume. Shipping nearly four hundred thousand vehicles to international markets, the company registered a solid 21 percent year-on-year growth compared to its export figures in 2024. This growth is particularly notable given the ongoing volatility in global trade, fluctuating logistics costs, and geopolitical uncertainties affecting international commerce.

The sustained rise in exports reflects the strong acceptance of India-manufactured passenger vehicles across diverse global markets. It also underlines the company’s ability to adapt to changing market dynamics while maintaining quality, cost efficiency, and timely delivery.

Alignment with National Manufacturing Vision

Maruti Suzuki’s export success aligns closely with the Indian government’s broader manufacturing vision, often described as producing locally while serving global markets. By focusing on high-quality production within India and targeting international demand, the company has become a key contributor to the country’s automotive export ecosystem.

During 2025, Maruti Suzuki exported as many as 18 different models to over 100 countries worldwide. These markets span regions such as Asia, Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, and Europe. This wide geographic footprint has helped the company reduce dependence on any single market and build resilience against regional economic slowdowns.

Re-Entry into Europe with Electric Mobility

One of the most significant milestones for Maruti Suzuki in 2025 was its re-entry into European markets. This return was marked by the launch of export operations for the e Vitara, Suzuki’s first battery electric vehicle. The move signals a strategic shift toward cleaner mobility solutions and positions the company to compete in markets with strict emission regulations.

The introduction of an electric SUV for Europe demonstrates the company’s readiness to meet evolving global standards and consumer preferences. It also reflects confidence in India’s capability to manufacture advanced electric vehicles for developed markets.

Role of the Hansalpur Manufacturing Facility

Exports of the e Vitara began in August 2025 from the company’s Hansalpur facility in Gujarat. The commencement of shipments followed a formal flag-off ceremony attended by the Prime Minister of India, underscoring the national importance of the project.

Since the start of exports, more than 13,000 units of the electric SUV have been shipped to 29 countries. Europe has accounted for the majority of these volumes, indicating strong demand for competitively priced electric vehicles manufactured in India. The Hansalpur plant has thus emerged as a critical hub for next-generation vehicle exports.

Leadership Perspective on Global Challenges

Commenting on the achievement, the company’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Hisashi Takeuchi, emphasized that the record-breaking export numbers are a reflection of India’s growing manufacturing strength. He highlighted the trust placed by international customers in vehicles produced in India, noting that such confidence has been built over years of consistent quality and reliability.

He also pointed out that achieving strong export growth during a period of global trade challenges makes the accomplishment even more meaningful. Disruptions in supply chains, rising freight costs, and economic uncertainties across regions have made international expansion difficult for many manufacturers. Against this backdrop, Maruti Suzuki’s performance stands out as a testament to strategic planning and operational excellence.

Outlook for the Future

Looking ahead, Maruti Suzuki’s continued focus on innovation, electric mobility, and global market expansion is expected to further strengthen its export leadership. With increasing investments in advanced manufacturing technologies and sustainable mobility solutions, the company is well-positioned to capitalize on future opportunities in the global automotive industry.

As international demand for efficient, reliable, and environmentally friendly vehicles grows, India’s role as a manufacturing base is likely to expand further. Maruti Suzuki’s consistent export success not only enhances its own global reputation but also reinforces India’s standing as a key player in the worldwide passenger vehicle market.
