Apple : Records Historic Growth in India Smartphone Market During 2025
Apple: has reportedly delivered its strongest-ever performance in India, marking a milestone year for the company in one of the fastest-growing technology markets globally. Market estimates suggest that Apple significantly increased its smartphone shipments in India during 2025, enabling it to gain market share even as the overall smartphone industry showed minimal growth. India, now the world’s second-largest smartphone market by volume, shipped roughly 152 million devices during the year, reflecting a largely stable market environment.

Apple Achieves Record Market Share in India
Market intelligence data indicates that Apple’s iPhone shipments in India rose sharply throughout 2025. As a result, the company’s market share climbed to an estimated 9 percent, up from nearly 7 percent in the previous year. This jump represents Apple’s best annual performance in India so far and highlights the brand’s growing acceptance among Indian consumers across multiple price segments.
Diverse Product Portfolio Drives Demand
One of the key reasons behind Apple’s strong growth has been its broader product lineup. The company offered models ranging from the premium iPhone 17 series to the more affordable iPhone 16 series and iPhone 16e. This wide selection allowed Apple to appeal to both high-end buyers and aspirational customers looking to enter the Apple ecosystem without paying flagship prices.
Improved Availability and Financing Options
Another major factor contributing to Apple’s success was increased availability across online platforms and offline retail stores. Consumers were able to access iPhone models more easily than before, especially in tier-two and tier-three cities. Additionally, attractive financing options such as no-cost EMI plans, exchange programs, and bank-linked discounts helped lower the effective purchase barrier for many buyers.
Overall Smartphone Market Remains Flat
Despite Apple’s impressive growth, India’s overall smartphone market remained largely unchanged in 2025. Total shipments hovered between 152 and 153 million units, indicating steady demand but limited expansion. Analysts suggest that longer replacement cycles and cautious consumer spending played a role in keeping overall volumes flat.
India Emerges as Key Manufacturing Hub
Alongside sales growth, Apple has continued to strengthen its manufacturing presence in India. As part of its global supply chain diversification strategy, the company has been gradually reducing dependence on China. India has emerged as a major assembly hub, with locally manufactured iPhone models now being shipped to several international markets.
Massive Export Milestone Achieved
Government data reveals that Apple has shipped made-in-India iPhones worth approximately 50 billion dollars in total. A significant portion of this growth came under the Production Linked Incentive program aligned with the Make in India initiative. Contract manufacturers supporting Apple have played a crucial role in scaling exports and meeting global demand.
Strong Outlook for the Current Financial Year
In just the first nine months of the current financial year, Apple exported around 16 billion dollars worth of iPhones from India. With several months still remaining, industry experts expect export figures and overall shipments to rise further, reinforcing India’s importance in Apple’s long-term strategy.
