The Tata Sierra earned a five-star rating in Bharat NCAP evaluations, reflecting its robust construction and advanced safety systems. It recorded 31.14 points out of 32 in adult occupant protection and 44.73 out of 49 in child occupant protection. This brought its combined score to 75.87 out of a possible 81 points, placing it firmly among top-performing SUVs. Despite this strong showing, it does not hold the top position in safety rankings.
Mahindra XEV 9e Tops Safety Rankings
Leading the chart is the Mahindra XEV 9e, which has emerged as one of the safest SUVs currently available in India. It achieved a flawless 32 out of 32 in adult occupant protection and secured 45 out of 49 in child occupant safety. With a total of 77 points, the SUV sets a new standard for safety performance in the segment and highlights the growing emphasis on occupant protection in electric vehicles.
Tata Harrier EV Matches Top Scores
Close behind is the Tata Harrier EV, which delivers identical safety scores to the XEV 9e. As part of Tata’s expanding electric lineup, the Harrier EV demonstrates that safety remains a priority alongside performance and sustainability. It also secured full marks in adult protection and 45 points in child safety, achieving a total score of 77 out of 81.
Mahindra BE6 Maintains Strong Safety Credentials
Another noteworthy contender is the Mahindra BE6, which has also secured a five-star safety rating. It scored 31.97 out of 32 for adult occupant protection and matched others with 45 out of 49 in child safety. Its overall score of 76.97 positions it just below the top performers, reinforcing Mahindra’s consistent focus on safety engineering.
Kia Seltos Leads Among Petrol and Diesel SUVs
Among traditional internal combustion engine SUVs, the Kia Seltos stands out as a top performer. It achieved 31.70 points for adult protection and 45 points for child safety, resulting in a combined score of 76.70. This makes it one of the safest ICE SUVs currently available, offering a balanced package of safety, comfort, and practicality.
Mahindra Thar Roxx Also Earns Five-Star Rating
The Mahindra Thar Roxx rounds out the list with a strong safety performance. It scored 31.09 out of 32 in adult occupant protection and 45 out of 49 in child safety tests. With a total of 76.09 points, it demonstrates that even rugged, off-road-focused SUVs can deliver high safety standards.
