Mobiles – Xiaomi 17T Series Set for Global Debut Later This Month
Mobiles – Xiaomi has confirmed that its upcoming 17T smartphone lineup will make its global debut on May 28, marking one of the company’s major product launches of the year. The announcement was made through the brand’s official social media channels on Monday, where Xiaomi also shared an early glimpse of the devices’ rear camera design. The teaser revealed a square-shaped triple-camera setup developed in collaboration with Leica, continuing the company’s long-running focus on premium mobile photography.

New Design Details Surface Ahead of Launch
Alongside the official announcement, newly leaked renders of the Xiaomi 17T and Xiaomi 17T Pro have appeared online, offering a closer look at the design and expected hardware features of both smartphones. The images suggest that Xiaomi is maintaining a flat-edge design language with a minimalist rear panel and a prominent camera module positioned in the upper-left corner.
Both devices appear visually similar, although the Pro variant is expected to include more advanced internal specifications. The leaked renders also indicate that the power button and volume rocker will likely be placed on the right side of the phones, while another unidentified button may be located on the opposite edge.
Leica Camera Partnership Continues
Xiaomi has once again highlighted its partnership with Leica for the camera system on the 17T lineup. While the company has not officially disclosed the full camera specifications yet, reports suggest that both phones may include a telephoto sensor capable of delivering up to 5x optical zoom. This feature could place the devices in direct competition with other premium Android smartphones in the market.
The company’s teaser focused heavily on the camera module, indicating that photography could become one of the key selling points of the new series. More details regarding the sensors and imaging features are expected to be announced closer to the launch event.
Display and Performance Expectations
According to leaks shared by well-known tipsters, the Xiaomi 17T Pro may arrive with a large 6.83-inch display supporting refresh rates of up to 144Hz. Such a high refresh rate is expected to deliver smoother scrolling, improved gaming performance, and better visual responsiveness for everyday use.
Meanwhile, the standard Xiaomi 17T is tipped to run on a MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra processor. The chipset is expected to offer a balance between performance and power efficiency, targeting users who want flagship-level speed without excessive battery consumption.
Battery capacity also appears to be a major focus for Xiaomi this year. Reports indicate that the Xiaomi 17T Pro could feature a 7,000mAh battery, while the regular Xiaomi 17T may include a slightly smaller 6,500mAh unit. If accurate, these capacities would place the devices among the larger-battery smartphones currently available in the premium segment.
Expected Pricing and Availability
Although Xiaomi has not officially revealed pricing information, recent reports have hinted at possible European launch prices. The Xiaomi 17T is expected to start at EUR 749 for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant. In India, this would roughly translate to around Rs. 83,000 before taxes and regional adjustments.
The Xiaomi 17T Pro, on the other hand, could reportedly carry a starting price of EUR 999, which is approximately Rs. 1,11,000. These figures suggest that Xiaomi is positioning the series in the upper premium smartphone category, competing with flagship offerings from other global brands.
With the launch date now officially confirmed, more details regarding specifications, software features, and market availability are likely to emerge over the coming days. Industry watchers expect Xiaomi to reveal additional information through teasers ahead of the global unveiling event later this month.
