HybridSUV – Honda ZR-V eHEV Set for India Launch This Month
HybridSUV – Honda Cars India has officially previewed its upcoming ZR-V eHEV ahead of the vehicle’s scheduled debut on May 22, 2026. The company has confirmed that the new model will enter the Indian market under the Honda ZR-V eHEV nameplate and will be positioned as the brand’s most premium SUV offering in the country. The vehicle will arrive through the completely built-up unit (CBU) route and will be placed above the existing Honda Elevate in the company’s lineup.

Sporty Styling and Premium Road Presence
The first teaser released by Honda highlights the SUV’s front profile, giving a glimpse of its sharper and more modern design language. The ZR-V eHEV features slim LED headlamps paired with distinctive L-shaped daytime running lights, creating a clean and contemporary look. An illuminated Honda emblem is also visible at the centre of the grille, adding to the premium appearance.
Compared to the boxier silhouette of the Elevate, the ZR-V adopts a more aerodynamic and coupe-like stance with a lower roof design and broader proportions. The teaser also suggests the presence of roof rails and a large sunroof, likely to be a panoramic setup similar to the international version already sold in overseas markets.
Globally available models of the ZR-V Hybrid include chrome accents on the grille, sculpted bumpers, functional air vents, and a patterned lower air intake. Industry expectations suggest that most of these exterior elements will remain unchanged for the India-bound version.
Size and Space Details
The Honda ZR-V eHEV measures 4,568 mm in length, 1,840 mm in width, and 1,620 mm in height. It comes with a wheelbase of 2,657 mm, which is expected to support better cabin room and ride comfort. The SUV also offers a ground clearance of 180 mm, making it suitable for varied road conditions.
Boot capacity stands at 390 litres, while alloy wheel options are expected to range from 17-inch to 19-inch units depending on the variant offered in India.
Cabin Likely to Focus on Comfort and Technology
Inside, the upcoming Honda SUV is expected to carry a premium dual-tone interior theme along with a layered dashboard layout. The cabin is likely to feature a large touchscreen infotainment unit and a fully digital 10.2-inch driver display.
Other expected features include dual-zone climate control, wireless smartphone charging, electrically adjustable front seats, and a powered tailgate. Honda may also equip the SUV with a 12-speaker Bose sound system to enhance the in-cabin entertainment experience.
In terms of safety and convenience technology, the ZR-V eHEV is expected to include Level-2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), six airbags, and ISOFIX child-seat anchors. A panoramic sunroof is also anticipated to be part of the equipment list.
Strong-Hybrid Powertrain Expected
Under the hood, the Honda ZR-V eHEV is expected to use a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine combined with a strong-hybrid system. The setup will likely be paired with an e-CVT automatic transmission.
International versions of the SUV produce around 180 horsepower and 240 Nm of torque. Performance figures suggest the hybrid SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in roughly eight seconds, while the top speed is estimated at close to 170 kmph.
Expected Pricing and Competition
Honda is likely to position the ZR-V eHEV in the premium SUV category with expected prices ranging between Rs 40 lakh and Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom). Once introduced in India, the model is expected to compete against established offerings such as the Volkswagen Tiguan and the Skoda Kodiaq.
The launch of the ZR-V eHEV is also expected to strengthen Honda’s presence in the growing hybrid SUV segment, where buyers are increasingly looking for a balance between fuel efficiency, performance, and premium features.
