Growth Momentum Across the Luxury Segment

The year 2025 marked the fourth consecutive year of double-digit growth for BMW India, a significant achievement in an increasingly competitive luxury car landscape. According to the company, BMW’s growth trajectory consistently outperformed the overall luxury car segment average in every quarter of the year. The October to December period proved especially successful, with sales reaching 6,023 units, making it the highest quarterly performance ever for the brand in India. This quarter alone registered over 17 percent year-on-year growth, showcasing strong demand during the festive and year-end buying season.

SUV Portfolio as the Core Growth Engine

One of the biggest contributors to BMW India’s record-breaking performance was its robust Sports Utility Vehicle lineup. The brand’s SUVs continued to resonate strongly with Indian buyers, driven by a preference for vehicles that combine luxury, performance, and road presence. Models such as the BMW X1 and BMW X5 emerged as customer favorites, anchoring the brand’s SUV-led growth strategy.

In 2025, BMW’s SUV portfolio recorded a 22 percent year-on-year increase, with 10,748 units sold. SUVs alone accounted for nearly 60 percent of BMW India’s total car sales, underlining their central role in the company’s success. The BMW X1 stood out as the best-selling model for the brand, reflecting the popularity of compact luxury SUVs that offer a balance of practicality and premium appeal.

Commenting on the company’s performance, Hardeep Singh Brar, President and Chief Executive Officer of BMW Group India, highlighted the broad-based growth across the portfolio. He stated that sales momentum was visible across multiple segments, including internal combustion engine vehicles and electric vehicles, Sports Activity Vehicles, sedans, and long wheelbase models. He also emphasized BMW’s leadership in the luxury electric segment, noting that it not only supports sustainable mobility goals but also helps expand the overall size of the luxury car market in India.

Aggressive Product Launch Strategy

Key launches included the BMW iX1 Long Wheelbase, the new BMW X3, BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe, MINI JCW Countryman All4, and the MINI Convertible. These introductions helped BMW cater to diverse customer preferences, from performance-oriented buyers to those seeking premium urban mobility.

Electric Vehicles Drive a New Growth Phase

Electric mobility emerged as another major highlight of BMW India’s performance in 2025. The company sold 3,753 BMW and MINI electric vehicles during the year, marking a growth of over 200 percent compared to the previous year. Electric vehicles accounted for 21 percent of BMW India’s total sales, a sharp rise from just 8 percent in 2024. This surge reflects increasing consumer confidence in electric technology and improved charging infrastructure across key urban markets.

The BMW iX1 emerged as the highest-selling electric vehicle for the brand and also led the premium electric segment in India. Its success demonstrates BMW’s ability to align advanced technology, driving dynamics, and everyday usability in its electric offerings, making EV adoption more accessible to luxury buyers.

Strong Performance from BMW Motorrad

Beyond passenger cars, BMW Motorrad also delivered a healthy performance in 2025. The motorcycle division recorded sales of 5,841 units, supported by strong demand across multiple engine categories. The BMW G 310 RR emerged as the top-selling motorcycle, registering growth of over 24 percent during the year. Additionally, larger and more powerful models such as the BMW S 1000 RR, 900 GS and GSA, and 1300 GS and GSA saw rising demand, reflecting a growing enthusiast base for premium motorcycles in India.

Outlook for the Indian Luxury Auto Market

BMW India’s record performance in 2025 reflects a broader transformation within the Indian luxury automotive market. Rising disposable incomes, evolving lifestyle aspirations, and increased acceptance of electric mobility are reshaping consumer behavior. With a strong SUV lineup, an expanding electric vehicle portfolio, and a consistent product launch strategy, BMW India appears well-positioned to sustain its growth momentum in the coming years and further strengthen its leadership in the premium segment.
