ElectricSUV – Maruti Suzuki e Vitara Launched at Rs 10.99 Lakh
ElectricSUV – After months of speculation and multiple public showcases, Maruti Suzuki has officially revealed the pricing of its first fully electric SUV, the e Vitara. The vehicle, which made its global debut at the Auto Expo in January 2025, had been displayed to media in India and the United Kingdom, but the company had withheld pricing details until now. With this launch, India’s largest carmaker has formally stepped into the rapidly growing mid-size electric SUV segment.

Pricing Structure and Ownership Benefits
The e Vitara carries an introductory ex-showroom price of Rs 10.99 lakh. In a unique approach, the battery pack is offered separately, translating to an estimated running cost of Rs 3.99 per kilometre. Maruti Suzuki has also introduced a 60 percent assured buyback value after three years, aimed at easing long-term ownership concerns.
Customers will receive an eight-year warranty covering both the vehicle and its battery. The package also includes one year of complimentary public charging and a free home charging unit with installation support valued at Rs 50,000. Bookings have commenced at Nexa dealerships nationwide and through the company’s official website, with a token amount of Rs 21,000.
Built on a Dedicated Electric Platform
The e Vitara is based on the newly developed HEARTECT-e architecture, designed specifically for electric vehicles. According to the company, the platform prioritizes structural strength, overall rigidity, and advanced high-voltage safety systems. This foundation supports the integration of a large battery pack while maintaining cabin space and passenger comfort.
Exterior Styling and Driving Modes
Measuring 4,275mm in length, 1,800mm in width, and 1,640mm in height, the SUV offers a wheelbase of 2,700mm. The flat-floor layout maximizes interior room while housing the battery beneath the cabin.
Visually, the e Vitara adopts a modern and uncluttered design language. Its proportions give it a solid road stance, while adaptive grille shutters automatically regulate airflow to enhance aerodynamic efficiency.
Drivers can choose between Eco, Normal, and Sport modes, along with a dedicated Snow mode for slippery conditions. The regenerative braking system supports one-pedal driving, a feature that improves convenience in city traffic and enhances energy recovery.
Interior Features and Comfort
Inside, the e Vitara introduces one of the most upscale cabins seen in a Maruti Suzuki offering. The dashboard features a twin-deck floating console layout and a newly crafted steering wheel. A fixed-glass sunroof, soft-touch dual-tone materials, and customizable ambient lighting contribute to a refined atmosphere.
Technology plays a central role, with a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system paired with a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster. Wireless smartphone connectivity and an Infinity by Harman audio system are also included.
Comfort has been given particular attention. The front seats are ventilated, and the driver benefits from a 10-way power-adjustable seat. Rear occupants get a 40:20:40 split seat configuration with sliding and reclining functions, along with a central armrest and convenient cargo access, offering flexibility for both passengers and luggage.
Battery Options and Claimed Range
The e Vitara’s electric powertrain integrates the motor, inverter, and transmission into a compact 3-in-1 setup. Buyers can choose between two battery packs.
The 49kWh variant is paired with a front-mounted motor producing 144bhp and 189Nm of torque, delivering a claimed range of 440km. The larger 61kWh battery generates 174bhp and 189Nm, with a company-claimed driving range exceeding 543km on a single charge.
The battery uses Cell-to-Pack technology and is supported by an advanced thermal management system. Maruti Suzuki states that the system is engineered to operate efficiently in temperatures ranging from minus 30 degrees Celsius to 60 degrees Celsius.
Focus on Safety and Technology
More than half of the e Vitara’s body structure is constructed using high-tensile steel to enhance occupant protection. The SUV also incorporates a dedicated battery protection mechanism.
It comes equipped with Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, offering a range of driver-support functions. Standard safety features include seven airbags, including a driver knee airbag, all-disc brakes, an electronic parking brake, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and e-Call emergency support.
With competitive range figures, a feature-rich cabin, and a dedicated electric platform, the e Vitara marks a significant milestone in Maruti Suzuki’s product portfolio and signals the company’s serious intent in India’s evolving electric vehicle landscape.
