Exterior Styling Receives Subtle Yet Noticeable Changes

Tata Motors has already offered a glimpse of the updated Punch EV’s exterior, and recent undisguised appearances have revealed most of the visual revisions ahead of its official debut.

At the front, the micro-SUV adopts a cleaner and more contemporary appearance. The black strip that previously linked the headlamps has been removed, creating a more streamlined look. The sealed grille panel now appears better integrated into the fascia, while the slim LED daytime running lights continue to give the vehicle its distinctive lighting identity. As before, the main headlamp units are positioned lower on the bumper.

The lower bumper has also been redesigned, featuring sharper lines and a revised air dam. A new skid plate element further enhances the vehicle’s SUV character, giving it a slightly bolder stance without dramatically altering its proportions.

From the side, the silhouette remains largely unchanged, preserving the compact and upright design that has defined the Punch EV. However, Tata is expected to introduce new exterior colour options, including a vibrant yellow and a copper-brown shade, expanding the personalization choices for customers.

At the rear, the most prominent update is the addition of a connected LED light bar stretching across the tailgate. This design element visually aligns the electric version with the recently updated petrol-powered Punch, ensuring a more unified look across the lineup.

Cabin Expected to Focus on Technology Enhancements

While the company has yet to officially showcase the interior, the updates inside are expected to be evolutionary rather than transformative.

The overall dashboard layout is likely to remain familiar to existing customers. However, higher trims may receive a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, potentially borrowed from Tata’s bigger electric models. Updated software and improved interface responsiveness are also anticipated.

Several features from the outgoing model are expected to continue. These include a 10.25-inch digital driver display, ventilated front seats, wireless charging, ambient lighting, connected car technology, and a 360-degree camera system. Depending on the final variant structure, Tata Motors may also introduce additional safety enhancements to strengthen the vehicle’s appeal in a competitive segment.

Battery Options and Range Outlook

Mechanically, the facelifted Punch EV is expected to retain its existing battery configurations. The current model offers two battery pack options catering to different usage needs.

However, Tata has indicated that a higher-capacity battery pack could be introduced. If confirmed, this addition would likely improve the vehicle’s real-world driving range, making it more attractive to urban and semi-urban buyers seeking extended usability between charging sessions. Minor adjustments to the officially certified range figures could also accompany the update.

Pricing Expectations and Market Competition

The outgoing Tata Punch EV is priced between Rs 9.99 lakh and Rs 14.44 lakh (ex-showroom). With the added features and design enhancements, a slight price increase is expected, particularly for higher-spec variants and any new battery option.

Once launched, the updated Punch EV will continue to compete with the Citroen eC3 in the under Rs 15 lakh electric vehicle segment. In this space, factors such as affordability, practical range, and feature value remain crucial considerations for buyers.

With this facelift, Tata Motors appears focused on strengthening the Punch EV’s position in India’s rapidly expanding electric SUV market, offering incremental improvements without straying from its value-oriented foundation.
