ElectricSUV – Tata Punch EV Update Brings Design and Range Tweaks
ElectricSUV – Buyers considering the Tata Punch EV may want to hold off briefly, as Tata Motors is preparing to roll out a significant refresh of its most affordable electric SUV. The updated model is scheduled for launch tomorrow and is expected to introduce subtle exterior refinements, added features, and possible adjustments to driving range.

The timing of the update closely follows the facelift of the petrol-powered Punch, ensuring that both versions share a consistent design language. With competition intensifying in the entry-level electric vehicle segment, the refreshed Punch EV aims to maintain its relevance while enhancing overall value.
Design Changes Focus on a Cleaner Front Profile
Tata Motors has already revealed the exterior styling of the updated Punch EV, and recent undisguised sightings have provided a clear look at the vehicle ahead of its official debut. The most noticeable changes appear at the front.
The facelift adopts a neater and more streamlined design. The closed grille has been better integrated into the fascia, and the black strip that previously connected the headlamps has been removed. This alteration gives the vehicle a sharper and more modern face.
Slim LED daytime running lights remain part of the lighting signature, while the primary headlamps continue to be positioned lower in the bumper. The lower section of the front bumper has been redesigned with sharper contours, a revised air intake, and a refreshed skid plate, lending the electric SUV a stronger road presence.
New Colours and Updated Rear Styling
From the side, the overall silhouette remains largely unchanged, retaining the compact proportions that define the micro-SUV segment. However, Tata is expanding the colour palette with new shades, including a bright yellow and a copper-brown finish, giving buyers more personalization options.
At the rear, the most prominent update is a connected LED light bar that stretches across the tailgate. This addition visually aligns the electric model with the updated petrol version and contributes to a more contemporary appearance.
Cabin Likely to See Feature Enhancements
Although Tata Motors has yet to officially showcase the interior, expectations point toward incremental upgrades rather than a complete redesign. The dashboard layout is likely to stay similar, maintaining familiarity for existing customers.
Higher variants may receive a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with updated software, potentially shared with Tata’s larger electric offerings. The current 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster is expected to remain available.
Features such as ventilated front seats, wireless charging, ambient lighting, connected car technology, and a 360-degree camera system are likely to continue. Depending on the final variant lineup, additional safety features could also be introduced.
Battery Options and Performance Details
Mechanically, the refreshed Punch EV is expected to retain its existing battery configurations. The standard 25kWh battery pack delivers 82bhp and 114Nm of torque, with a claimed range of 265km. The larger 35kWh unit produces 122bhp and 190Nm, offering a claimed range of up to 365km on a single charge.
Tata has indicated that a higher-capacity battery option may be under consideration, though confirmation will only come at the official launch. Minor adjustments to the certified driving range figures are also possible as part of the update.
Pricing and Market Position
The outgoing Punch EV is currently priced between Rs 9.99 lakh and Rs 14.44 lakh (ex-showroom). With the upcoming refresh, a moderate price revision is expected, particularly for feature-rich variants. The pricing strategy for any potential larger battery pack will be closely watched.
Once introduced, the updated Punch EV will continue competing in the sub-Rs 15 lakh electric vehicle segment, facing rivals such as the Citroen eC3. As demand for compact electric SUVs grows in India, the refreshed model is positioned to strengthen Tata’s presence in the affordable EV space.
