ElectricSUV – Tata Punch.ev Facelift Set for February Launch
ElectricSUV – The compact electric vehicle segment in India is gaining pace, and the Tata Punch.ev has emerged as one of the more engaging options for city buyers seeking both performance and practicality. As the electric version of the popular Punch, this model combines compact dimensions with lively acceleration, making it a notable presence in the growing electric SUV market. Now, Tata Motors is preparing to introduce a refreshed version of the Punch.ev on February 20, bringing subtle design updates and expected feature enhancements.

Compact Dimensions Designed for City Driving
Measuring 3,857mm in length, 1,742mm in width, and 1,663mm in height, the Punch.ev remains tailored for urban conditions. Its 2,445mm wheelbase ensures stable road manners while keeping the footprint manageable. With a turning radius of 4.9 metres, the vehicle handles tight U-turns and narrow streets with ease. These proportions make it particularly suitable for congested city traffic and limited parking spaces, a key consideration for urban electric car buyers.
Performance That Sets It Apart
The highlight of the top-spec Punch.ev variant lies under the hood. Equipped with an electric motor producing 120bhp and 190Nm of peak torque, the compact SUV delivers brisk acceleration. In independent performance testing, it completed the 0–100 kmph sprint in 8.77 seconds. For a vehicle priced at Rs 14.44 lakh (ex-showroom) in its highest trim, this performance figure places it among the quicker options in its category.
For buyers seeking a more affordable alternative, Tata also offers a smaller battery configuration paired with a less powerful motor, ensuring flexibility in pricing and range preferences.
Ride Quality and Handling Dynamics
One of the strengths of the Punch.ev is its ride comfort and stability. The battery pack is mounted beneath the floor, which lowers the centre of gravity and adds structural rigidity compared to its petrol counterpart. This setup enhances overall balance and improves handling confidence.
The suspension system manages uneven surfaces effectively, absorbing potholes and broken patches without transmitting harshness into the cabin. Speed breakers and rough stretches are handled with composure. While slight wheel slip can occasionally be felt during slow-speed cornering, overall stability remains reassuring for daily driving.
Facelift Brings Exterior Refinements
Tata Motors first introduced the Punch.ev in 2024. Following recent updates to the petrol-powered Punch, the company is now readying a facelifted version of the electric model.
The upcoming iteration will feature a revised front fascia. The grille area appears more sealed, aligning with modern electric vehicle design language. Headlamp housings have been reshaped, and the front skid plate has received minor styling tweaks. New exterior colour options are also expected.
From the side, changes are subtle. The current EV badge will be replaced with a Tata.ev insignia, reflecting the brand’s evolving electric identity.
Expected Cabin Upgrades
While Tata has only revealed the exterior so far, interior changes are anticipated. The refreshed model is likely to feature a larger infotainment touchscreen, potentially sourced from the Nexon lineup. This could enhance the in-car experience with improved connectivity and interface quality.
One area that may see improvement is seat comfort. The existing Punch.ev’s front seats have been noted for limited support. Since the updated petrol Punch now includes seats with enhanced thigh support, similar upgrades are expected in the electric variant as well.
Battery Options and Range Figures
Currently, the Punch.ev is offered with two battery choices. The 25kWh pack delivers a claimed MIDC range of 315km and is paired with a motor producing approximately 82bhp and 114Nm of torque. The larger 35kWh battery offers a claimed MIDC range of 421km and powers the more potent 120bhp motor generating 190Nm.
With the upcoming facelift, no significant mechanical changes are anticipated. The powertrain options are expected to remain unchanged, focusing instead on design and feature improvements.
As competition intensifies in India’s electric vehicle space, the updated Punch.ev aims to strengthen its position by combining compact practicality, engaging performance, and refreshed styling.
