Next-Generation : Kia Seltos Production Begins in India Ahead of Early 2026 Market Launch
Next-Generation: Kia India has officially commenced production of the second-generation Seltos at its state-of-the-art manufacturing plant located in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. This development represents a significant step forward for the brand as it prepares for the nationwide launch of its updated midsize SUV. The first production unit was rolled out in the presence of the company’s senior leadership, reflecting the importance of this model in Kia’s long-term strategy for the Indian automotive market.

Production Milestone and Launch Timeline
With manufacturing now underway, the company has confirmed that the official price announcement for the new Seltos is scheduled for January 2, 2026. Customer deliveries are expected to begin soon after the price reveal, ensuring minimal waiting periods for buyers. Advance bookings have already opened across dealerships in India with a booking amount set at Rs 25,000, indicating strong confidence in market demand even before the formal launch.
Platform, Dimensions, and Road Presence
The new-generation Seltos is underpinned by Kia’s advanced K3 platform, which allows for improved structural rigidity, enhanced safety, and better packaging. Compared to the outgoing model, the SUV has grown noticeably in size. It measures 4,460 mm in overall length and features a wheelbase of 2,690 mm, contributing to a more stable stance and improved cabin space. The wider track and reworked proportions give the vehicle a more commanding road presence, aligning with evolving consumer expectations in the midsize SUV category.
Exterior Design Evolution
Design updates play a major role in distinguishing the latest Seltos from its predecessor. The front fascia showcases a sharper and more modern interpretation of Kia’s Digital Tiger Face design language. Lighting elements have been upgraded with Ice Cube LED headlamps, Star Map LED daytime running lights, and connected LED tail lamps at the rear. Depending on the variant, buyers will notice features such as gloss black exterior accents, satin silver or dark gunmetal skid plates, automatic flush door handles, and newly designed 18-inch alloy wheels.
Sport-oriented trims, including the X-Line variant, add a more aggressive visual appeal. These versions are characterized by blacked-out elements, unique alloy wheel patterns, and subtle neon highlights that enhance their sporty identity.
Interior Space and Comfort Enhancements
Inside the cabin, the second-generation Seltos has undergone a comprehensive transformation. The longer wheelbase translates into noticeably improved rear legroom, making the SUV more comfortable for family use and long-distance travel. High-quality soft-touch materials, refined upholstery, and multiple interior color themes create a premium and welcoming environment.
A key highlight is the new Trinity Panoramic Display Panel, which seamlessly integrates a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen. This wide-screen setup not only improves visibility but also elevates the overall technology experience. Additional comfort features include a 10-way power-adjustable driver seat with memory and lumbar support, ventilated front seats, 64-color ambient lighting, a redesigned D-cut steering wheel, and a generous 447-litre luggage compartment.
Technology and Connected Features
The all-new Seltos positions itself as a technology-focused SUV with the introduction of Kia Connect 2.0. This system supports connected car functions such as remote vehicle monitoring, diagnostics, and over-the-air software updates. Higher trims benefit from premium additions like a Bose eight-speaker sound system, dual-zone automatic climate control with a dedicated touchscreen interface, wireless smartphone charging, and a 360-degree camera with blind view monitoring.
Everyday convenience has also been enhanced through features such as proximity-based door unlocking, power-folding outside mirrors, multiple USB charging ports, panoramic sunroof options, and comprehensive parking assistance systems.
Engine Options and Driving Hardware
Kia continues to offer a diverse powertrain lineup to cater to different driving preferences. Engine options include a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol unit producing 115 bhp, a more powerful 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine delivering 160 bhp, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine with an output of 116 bhp. Transmission choices are equally varied, ranging from manual and iMT gearboxes to CVT, seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, and a six-speed automatic. All variants are front-wheel drive and come equipped with all-wheel disc brakes for consistent stopping performance.
Market Positioning and Outlook
With production already in motion and a wide-ranging upgrade across design, interior quality, technology, and mechanicals, the new Kia Seltos is well-positioned to strengthen its foothold in one of India’s most competitive SUV segments. As it prepares to enter the market in early 2026, the model is expected to appeal to both existing customers and new buyers seeking a modern, feature-rich, and spacious midsize SUV.
