SUV – MG Majestor Set for India Price Reveal on February 12

SUV – The Indian automotive market is preparing for the arrival of a new flagship contender as JSW MG Motor India gears up to announce the pricing of the Majestor on February 12. The model, first introduced to the public at Auto Expo 2025, represents the company’s most determined entry yet into the competitive D+ SUV segment. Positioned above the existing Gloster in the brand’s lineup, the Majestor is aimed directly at established rivals such as the Toyota Fortuner Legender.

Positioned as MG’s New Flagship Offering

With the Majestor, MG is seeking to strengthen its foothold in the premium SUV category. The vehicle has been developed as a full-size SUV that blends bold styling with high-end features, targeting buyers who expect both presence and practicality. By placing it above the Gloster, the company is clearly signaling its intent to move further upmarket.

The model’s proportions and design cues reflect its global underpinnings. Built on the Maxus D90 platform, which is already available in several international markets, the Majestor carries forward a design language that emphasizes size and road authority. The version displayed earlier at auto shows and seen undergoing trials in India closely resembles the production model that will soon reach dealerships.

Exterior Design Highlights

The Majestor’s exterior styling focuses on strength and modern detailing. A large grille inspired by a matrix pattern dominates the front fascia, flanked by a split headlamp configuration with prominent LED daytime running lights. The upright stance is further enhanced by a sculpted bonnet and muscular wheel arches.

Riding on 19-inch alloy wheels, the SUV incorporates blacked-out pillars and roof rails to create a layered visual effect. Faux skid plates and dual exhaust outlets add to its rugged character. Updated bumper designs and refined lighting elements at both ends contribute to a contemporary and assertive appearance suited to the premium SUV space.

Cabin and Feature Expectations

While MG has not yet shared the complete list of interior specifications, the Majestor is expected to offer a technology-focused cabin in line with its flagship status. Industry sources indicate that the dashboard will likely feature two 12.3-inch displays—one dedicated to infotainment functions and the other serving as a digital instrument cluster.

Comfort and convenience are anticipated to be central themes. A panoramic sunroof, three-zone climate control, wireless smartphone charging and a premium 12-speaker audio system are expected to be part of the package. Additional features may include a powered tailgate and a 360-degree camera system to assist with maneuvering in tight spaces.

Advanced driver assistance systems at Level 2 are also likely to be offered, providing functions such as adaptive cruise control and lane support features. Electrically adjustable front seats with heating and massage functions could further underline the vehicle’s premium positioning.

Engine and Performance Setup

Under the hood, the Majestor is expected to use a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine generating approximately 213 bhp and 478 Nm of torque. The powertrain is likely to be paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Both rear-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive configurations are anticipated, giving customers flexibility based on their driving needs, whether urban commuting or occasional off-road use.

This diesel setup is already familiar in global markets, offering a balance between performance and efficiency. Its inclusion in the Majestor reinforces the SUV’s focus on combining power with long-distance comfort.

Competition in the Premium SUV Segment

Once launched, the Majestor will enter a segment dominated by well-established models. In addition to the Toyota Fortuner Legender, it is expected to compete with vehicles such as the Skoda Kodiaq, Volkswagen Tayron and Nissan X-Trail. Each of these models brings its own strengths in terms of brand recognition and features.

Ultimately, pricing will play a decisive role in determining how effectively the Majestor can carve out space in the premium SUV market. With its substantial dimensions, feature-rich interior and strong diesel engine, the new MG flagship has the potential to reshape competition in this growing category.
