Gran Turismo has built its reputation on realism and a carefully curated vehicle roster, often favoring established automotive manufacturers with deep motorsport pedigrees. The inclusion of the SU7 Ultra reflects a shift toward recognizing cutting-edge electric performance cars alongside traditional supercars and racing legends. For Xiaomi, the move places its first electric sedan in a virtual garage shared with some of the most respected names in automotive history.
Collaboration Focused on Authenticity
The partnership between Xiaomi and Polyphony Digital was initially announced in mid-2025, but the work behind the scenes extended well beyond a standard licensing agreement. Series creator Kazunori Yamauchi personally tested the SU7 Ultra at multiple circuits, including the Nürburgring Nordschleife and Tsukuba, to gain a direct understanding of the car’s real-world behavior. These sessions informed how the vehicle would be translated into the game.
Xiaomi’s own vehicle dynamics engineers also played a hands-on role. The team traveled to Polyphony Digital’s studio in Fukuoka, where they worked closely with developers to refine the digital model. Areas such as steering response, braking feel, and power delivery were adjusted to ensure the in-game experience reflects how the sedan performs on actual tarmac.
Powertrain and Chassis Engineering Details
At the core of the SU7 Ultra is Xiaomi’s Hyper Tri-Motor system, which combines three electric motors to deliver a total output of 1,548 horsepower and 1,770Nm of torque. The setup includes two V8s motors and one V6s motor, all supported by an 800-volt electrical architecture designed for both performance and efficiency.
The acceleration figures place the sedan firmly in hypercar territory. Xiaomi claims a 0–100kmph time of 1.98 seconds, while ultra-fast charging technology allows the battery to replenish from 10 to 80 percent in approximately 11 minutes under optimal conditions. Suspension hardware includes a double-wishbone arrangement at the front, a five-link rear layout, adaptive dampers, and air springs, aiming to balance track capability with everyday drivability.
Nürburgring Record Confirms Real-World Performance
The SU7 Ultra’s specifications are supported by verified on-track results. In April 2025, a production-spec version fitted with an optional Track Package recorded a lap time of 7:04.957 at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. This result set a new benchmark for electric executive sedans, reinforcing the car’s performance credentials on one of the most demanding circuits in the world.
In-Game Event for Players Worldwide
To coincide with the SU7 Ultra’s debut in Gran Turismo 7, Polyphony Digital will host a global time trial event at the Monza circuit. The two-week challenge will allow players to compete using the new car and compare lap times with participants from around the world, offering an early opportunity to explore its capabilities in a competitive setting.
