Samsung – Galaxy A07 5G Debuts in India With Focus on Affordability

Samsung – Samsung has expanded its budget smartphone lineup in India with the launch of the Galaxy A07 5G on February 5. The device, which appeared briefly in select international markets last month, is now officially available for Indian consumers. Positioned in the lower price segment, the phone is aimed at buyers seeking basic smartphone functionality with long battery life and 5G connectivity, without a premium price tag.

Budget positioning and design choices

The Galaxy A07 5G is clearly designed for cost-conscious users. Samsung has kept the overall hardware modest while prioritizing features that matter most in this segment, such as battery capacity and display size. The phone is available in three color options—Light Violet, Light Green, and Black—offering a simple but modern look. With a weight of around 199 grams, the device falls within the typical range for phones carrying large batteries.

Display focused on size and smoothness

On the front, the Galaxy A07 5G features a 6.7-inch PLS LCD touchscreen. The display carries an HD+ resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels, which is standard for entry-level smartphones. While it does not deliver sharp visuals compared to higher-end models, Samsung has included a 120Hz refresh rate, which can result in smoother scrolling and animations. The screen also supports up to 800 nits of peak brightness, making it reasonably usable in outdoor lighting conditions.

Processor, memory, and software

Powering the smartphone is the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset, a processor designed for affordable 5G devices. The phone is offered in two memory configurations: 4GB RAM with 128GB internal storage, and a higher variant with 6GB RAM paired with the same storage capacity. Dual SIM support is included, catering to users who manage personal and work numbers on a single device.

On the software side, the Galaxy A07 5G runs Android 16 with Samsung’s One UI 8 layered on top. This ensures access to the latest Android features along with Samsung’s interface enhancements and security updates, which remain a strong selling point in the budget category.

Camera setup kept simple

Samsung has opted for a straightforward camera arrangement on the Galaxy A07 5G. The rear houses a dual-camera system placed within a pill-shaped module. The primary sensor is a 50-megapixel camera with autofocus and support for up to 10x digital zoom. It is accompanied by a 2-megapixel depth sensor intended for portrait-style shots. On the front, the device includes an 8-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls. Both front and rear cameras support video recording at up to 1080p at 30 frames per second.

Battery life and charging support

One of the highlights of the Galaxy A07 5G is its large 6,000mAh battery. This capacity is expected to comfortably last a full day or more under regular usage, especially given the phone’s modest hardware. Charging is supported at up to 25W via a wired connection, which is reasonable for a phone in this price range, though the charging speed is not class-leading.

Pricing, offers, and market outlook

In India, the Galaxy A07 5G is priced at Rs 15,999 for the 4GB RAM and 128GB storage variant, while the 6GB RAM version is priced at Rs 17,999. Samsung is also offering an introductory cashback of Rs 1,000 for purchases made using SBI, HDFC, or Axis Bank cards, slightly reducing the effective cost.

At its current pricing, the Galaxy A07 5G delivers a balanced set of features but does not significantly raise the bar for the segment. Limited RAM on the base model may be a concern for some users, though rising component costs in 2025 and 2026 have affected pricing across the smartphone industry. As a result, the phone reflects broader market trends rather than a major leap in value.
