Technology – Oppo has expanded its premium smartphone portfolio with the launch of the Reno 16 and Reno 16 Pro in China. The company introduced the two new devices during its May 2026 launch event, alongside the latest Oppo Pad 6 tablet. Both smartphones arrive with upgraded camera hardware, large battery capacity, high-refresh-rate displays, and MediaTek chipsets designed for advanced mobile performance.

Pricing and Availability Details
The Oppo Reno 16 enters the Chinese market with a starting price of CNY 3,499 for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant. Customers looking for higher storage and memory configurations can choose from multiple options, with the top-end 16GB RAM and 1TB storage model priced at CNY 4,899.
Meanwhile, the Oppo Reno 16 Pro begins at CNY 4,499 for the 12GB + 256GB version. The company has also introduced 12GB + 512GB and 16GB + 512GB editions at higher price points.
Both smartphones will officially go on sale in China from May 29 through the company’s online retail channels. Oppo has launched the Reno 16 in Galaxy Purple, Heartbeat, and Moonlight Is Dark shades, while the Reno 16 Pro is available in Dream White, Heartbeat, and Moonlight Is Dark finishes.
Display and Software Features
The Reno 16 Pro comes with a 6.78-inch AMOLED display offering 1.5K resolution and support for a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. The screen also supports up to 1,800 nits peak brightness and a wide DCI-P3 colour gamut for enhanced viewing quality.
On the other hand, the standard Reno 16 features a smaller 6.32-inch OLED display with similar refresh rate capabilities and colour performance. Both devices run on Android 16-based ColorOS 16 and support dual SIM functionality.
MediaTek Processors and Storage Options
Oppo has equipped the Reno 16 Pro with the MediaTek Dimensity 9500s processor, while the Reno 16 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8550 Super chipset. The company is offering both smartphones with up to 16GB LPDDR5x RAM and storage capacity reaching 1TB.
The latest Reno lineup also carries an IP69K certification, indicating resistance against dust and water exposure. This addition highlights the company’s focus on durability alongside performance upgrades.
Triple Camera Setup Takes Center Stage
Photography remains one of the major highlights of the Reno 16 series. Both smartphones include a triple rear camera arrangement led by a 200-megapixel primary sensor with optical image stabilisation support.
The rear camera system also includes a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto sensor capable of delivering up to 3.5x optical zoom. For selfies and video calls, the two models feature a 50-megapixel front-facing camera.
According to the company, the smartphones support video recording at up to 4K resolution with 60 frames per second capability, targeting users interested in high-quality mobile videography.
Battery Capacity and Charging Support
Battery performance has also received a significant upgrade in the new Reno series. The Reno 16 Pro packs a 7,000mAh battery, while the Reno 16 carries a slightly smaller 6,700mAh unit.
Both models support 80W wired fast charging technology. However, wireless charging support is exclusive to the Pro variant, which offers 50W wireless charging capability.
Connectivity and Security Features
The Reno 16 series supports 5G connectivity, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, USB Type-C, and multiple satellite navigation systems including GLONASS and BeiDou. Security features include an in-display fingerprint sensor along with face unlock support.
In terms of physical dimensions, the Reno 16 Pro weighs 208 grams, while the standard Reno 16 weighs 191 grams, making it comparatively lighter and more compact for everyday use.
