Smartphone – Redmi Turbo 5 India Debut Set for June 16
Smartphone – Redmi has officially confirmed that the Redmi Turbo 5 will make its debut in the Indian market on June 16, marking the arrival of the brand’s Turbo series in the country for the first time. The announcement was shared through the company’s social media channels, while an Amazon landing page has also gone live, indicating that the device will be available through the online retail platform after launch.

Launch Details and Design Options
Ahead of the unveiling, Redmi has offered an early glimpse of the upcoming smartphone’s design. Promotional images reveal that the handset will be introduced in black and white colour variants, though the company has not yet disclosed the official names of these finishes. The device is being promoted as one of the most powerful Redmi smartphones released so far.
MediaTek Chipset Confirmed
Redmi has also disclosed key hardware details before launch. The Turbo 5 will run on the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra processor, a chipset the company says has achieved an AnTuTu benchmark score exceeding 2.3 million points. The smartphone is expected to target users seeking high-end performance for gaming, multitasking, and demanding applications.
According to the brand, the device will support up to 24GB of total memory, including 12GB of virtual RAM expansion. This indicates that at least one version of the smartphone will likely feature 12GB LPDDR5x RAM as standard.
Storage and Cooling Features
For storage, Redmi has confirmed the inclusion of UFS 4.1 technology, which is designed to offer faster app loading times and improved data transfer speeds. While exact storage configurations have not yet been announced, the company is expected to reveal those details closer to launch.
To manage heat during intensive usage, the Turbo 5 will be equipped with a 3D Ice-Loop Cooling system. This cooling technology is intended to maintain stable performance during extended gaming sessions and heavy workloads.
Chinese Variant Offers Clues
Although the Indian version is yet to be fully detailed, the Redmi Turbo 5 has already been introduced in China. The Chinese model features a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1,268 × 2,756 pixels. The panel supports a refresh rate of up to 120Hz and a touch sampling rate of up to 480Hz, while peak brightness reaches 3,500 nits.
The China edition is powered by the same MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra processor and is available with up to 16GB LPDDR5x Ultra RAM and up to 512GB UFS 4.1 storage.
Camera and Battery Specifications
Photography duties on the Chinese model are handled by a dual-camera setup. The system includes a 50-megapixel Sony IMX882 primary sensor with an f/1.5 aperture, accompanied by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera. For selfies and video calls, the smartphone features a 20-megapixel front-facing camera.
One of the standout features is its large 7,560mAh battery, which is supported by 100W wired fast charging. Redmi has claimed that the upcoming handset will carry the largest battery ever offered in a Redmi smartphone, making battery life a major selling point.
More Information Expected Soon
With the official launch now less than two weeks away, additional details regarding pricing, storage options, software features, and availability are expected to emerge in the coming days. The Redmi Turbo 5 is shaping up to be a significant addition to the company’s Indian smartphone portfolio, particularly for users looking for flagship-level specifications in a performance-focused device.
